Comments Off on Blue Line Racing year end update

Hi all,

As October nears the end, so does our appearances for 2014. We had a terrific year with all 4 cars as we didn’t experience any breakdowns or major issues. In all, we made 53 events starting with the Las Vegas Police and Fire shootout where we brought 2 trophies back to Canada. From there it was schools and community events until the IHRA Rocky Mountain Nationals at Castrol Raceway where we had 6 police cars make several side by side passes for around 15000 fans. The big celebrity was Sgt. Scott Graham with his beautiful LA County Sheriff’s 67 Barracuda.

Later in July we were part of the Edmonton Police Service parade of vehicles for the K-Days parade where there was a record 200,000 people lining up and down the city streets to see all the entries. As usual, the crowd gave us big “thumbs up” as we passed by. We continued to be busy with displays at Castrol Raceway where I had the opportunity to meet NASCAR racing legends; Kenny Wallace, Michael Waltrip and Kenny Schrader. Later in the year, we attended a MAC Tools event where we met and spent some time with Chip Foose. These were some memorable moments and make a lot of the work we do pleasurable.

We had also been requested by many members within the EPS who used our cars for an array of community events. Our city is growing tremendously (about 3200 people per month) so the cars are still very new to so many and loved by all.

At the end of the season, we were fortunate to team with Fleet FX, Arlon, and EM Plastics, who, took on the challenge to wrap our truck and trailer with a full size graphic. We are very excited to unveil it for the 2015 season as it will definitely make a profound statement where ever we park.

We are now gearing up to attend the SEMA show in Las Vegas, so those of you also attending, we will be seeing you next week.

I want to thank everyone for the support we received 2014 and look forward to seeing everyone in 2015.

Take care,

Sgt. Mike Wynnyk

Comments Off on Summer Update

Hi all, I just wanted to give everyone an update on our summer.  We have been very busy once again taking the cars to various venues in and around Edmonton.  The season started off with the Police and Fire challenge in Las Vegas back in April where we lined up against 14 different teams.  Of course we were the only team representing Canada and I’m proud to say I was runner up.  We took down 3 cars and both the Challenger and Mustang ran personal best times of 9.80 and 11.85 respectively.   Sgt. Scott Graham from LA County Sheriff’s organized a great event and had lots of prizes for all to take home.  This is a great opportunity to evaluate our program with the other teams and compare notes.  One area of improvement we recognize is standardizing our racing apparel and image.  We want to thank Profox Race Gear and Mobil 1 oil for teaming up with us and providing new SFI race suits.  These will be ready for 2015 season.

Once we returned back to Edmonton, we began a hectic schedule of community and school displays for May and June.  In the beginning of July, our home track Castrol Raceway held the IHRA Nitro Jam series.  The IHRA staff are a great group and allow us each year to participate in their exhibition feature during the 3 day race.  In total, we had 6 police race cars, including Scott Graham who drove up from Los Angeles.   The crowd loved the show and we appreciated all the hospitality and media coverage.

The rest of the month saw us at more community events and charity car shows.  The K-Days parade was cool this year as we were with all the Edmonton Police Service vehicles starting with their 57 Chev panel delivery (former bomb truck) then progress through the years with different patrol cars ending with our futuristic race cars. (sorry photos of the parade haven’t been sent to me yet)

To date, we have attended over 35 events and still have many bookings right up until the end of September.  Our next appearance is Hot August Night which will be this Wednesday, August 13, in front of 15,000 race fans.  We will feature all 4 of our cars and again put on a good exhibition show.

I have attached a few photos from this year, but also check out our Facebook page at Blue Line Racing Association as I update the site more regularly.

Hope you’re having a great summer and thank you for your continued support.

Comments Off on Blue Line Racing September update

Hi all, for those of you I haven’t seen over the summer or for those who don’t follow us on Facebook, here’s a short update:

We’ve had a busy summer making appearances both on and off the track.  The Challenger has been running real well and consistent in the 9.8’s and is a real show stopper.  In August, the mega Mopar Action series made a stop at our local racetrack where I decided to enter and see if I could compete with it.  Well I ended up winning the Challenger shootout, running a 9.981 on a 9.98 dial.  See this link for the write up.  We also had some friendly competition when the Saskatoon Police Service brought their 2006 Caprice out to Edmonton for a weekend.  A couple weeks later, we traveled to Saskatoon and showed off our cars at their track.

The Mustang is running better, turning a 11.88 on street tires.  Thanks to Chris at CCMR for the tuning and once we can get traction with slicks, the times should improve.  The Duster is still running great with consistent 10.0’s times.  We have had several requests for passengers to ride in one of our cars which is always great to promote the sport and program.

The weather is still holding out nicely so I hope to get out to the track a couple more time in September before everything gets put away for the winter.

Take care.

Comments Off on Blue Line Racing Challenger on the track!!

Well the day has finally arrived. The Blue Line Racing team has traveled down to Vegas for Mopars at the Strip. I had the Challenger on the dyno 2 weeks ago and despite having no boost, the engine made 475hp to the rear wheels. Today, I made the first pass on the car and it ran smooth and sounded great. The time was 11.31 @ 117mph. (Not bad for a 4000lb car). Once we get home, I will figure out the no boost issue and try to get better times. As for now, we are enjoying the sun and putting on a great show.

Comments Off on Long Overdue Update
About, Events

well its been a while since there has been an update, but we just wanted to let you know that we are very close to completing the Challenger. Between shows and events, the car has been at Stormy’s Street Rods getting all the necessary pieces (fuel system, cooling system, transmission and drivetrain) Next, myself with a couple of volunteers tackled the entire wiring of the car. Thank God for Google, and the great tech help from AEM, who saved me countless hours of guessing. Attached are some photos of the car, and its hard to tell, but a lot of small details took a large amount of fabricating time. If all goes well, we should be firing the car later this week and running a dyno session as well. The proposed debut of the Challenger will be on Wednesday August 8 at Castrol Raceway for Hot August Night. We will keep you posted on the final progress.

As for the rest of the program, the Duster has been running very consistently at 10.01, 10.03, etc. on the few times we’ve managed to get to the track. We have been busy at all sorts of community events with a nice display at Edmonton Indy this year. I purchased a stacker trailer last fall and it has really come in handy with logistics.

The Mustang received the new engine and clutch, and on the 2nd pass down the track at the Rocky Mtn Nationals the transmission piled up the 1/2 and 2/3 syncros. It, too, is in the shop getting repaired in order to be ready for Hot August Night. The Mustang received some new decalling and it looks fresh.

We are booked every weekend in August, and have been invited down to Salt Lake City in September. We will hopefully get our website updated with the schedule. I will also be uploading video and photos of the Challenger and the rest of the cars making passes down the track.

We will be back soon with an update….

About, Events

The Blue Line Racing team had a very busy season both displaying and behind the scenes. Our season began in January at the Edmonton Auto Show where we had on display the Challenger, Mustang and Tiburon. We were selling our die cast replicas of the Challenger which were made by Green Light Collectables. The next couple of months were filled with school displays and community appearances.

Over the winter we had negotiated a deal with SMS Supercars in Corona, CA to finish the Challenger. In April, the Challenger was transported down to California where it is currently still sitting. They are to build and install a supercharged hemi engine, plumb and wire the car, and finish any other necessary components to complete the car. JW supplied the transmission and other manufacturers (TTI Headers and AEM) are within a couple of blocks of the car and have joined in the efforts to finish the Challenger in time for the 2010 SEMA show in Las Vegas. Mickey Thompson has provided us with space to display the car at this show.

Our racing season kicked off in May at both Castrol Raceway (drag racing) and Statotech Park (road course) and the cars performed very well. The Street Legal Drags component at Castrol Raceway saw record attendance for early in the season. The Team travelled around Alberta with the cars, Lethbridge down south, Lloydminster and Provost out east and Drayton Valley. One trip to the USA was to Spokane Raceway Park at the end of July, where we presented the Street Legal Program to the Spokane Police Dept. and made exhibition runs down the track in front of a great crowd. We even made front page in the Spokane Review!

The Duster, however, took the tranny out after the first night and sat in the pits as a static display. Once returned home, the spare trans was installed and the Duster was back on the track for the next weekend. For the most part, we ran our cars as an exhibition program this year, and were always greated with smiles and handshakes. The organizers gave us premium pit space, putting us front and center to the spectators. (maybe thats why we went thru 5000 picture cards) We would lilke to send out a special thank you to Bob and Alex Michaud for lending us the use of their stacker trailer for a few of the shows. This made logistics very easy to get all of our cars to one venue.

Other displays included; Stollery Children’s Hospital, Brain Injury Awareness, Chiefs of Police Conference, and Edmonton Indy. All in all, we made 54 appearances to excess of 500,000 people.
