Summer Update

Hi all, I just wanted to give everyone an update on our summer.  We have been very busy once again taking the cars to various venues in and around Edmonton.  The season started off with the Police and Fire challenge in Las Vegas back in April where we lined up against 14 different teams.  Of course we were the only team representing Canada and I’m proud to say I was runner up.  We took down 3 cars and both the Challenger and Mustang ran personal best times of 9.80 and 11.85 respectively.   Sgt. Scott Graham from LA County Sheriff’s organized a great event and had lots of prizes for all to take home.  This is a great opportunity to evaluate our program with the other teams and compare notes.  One area of improvement we recognize is standardizing our racing apparel and image.  We want to thank Profox Race Gear and Mobil 1 oil for teaming up with us and providing new SFI race suits.  These will be ready for 2015 season.

Once we returned back to Edmonton, we began a hectic schedule of community and school displays for May and June.  In the beginning of July, our home track Castrol Raceway held the IHRA Nitro Jam series.  The IHRA staff are a great group and allow us each year to participate in their exhibition feature during the 3 day race.  In total, we had 6 police race cars, including Scott Graham who drove up from Los Angeles.   The crowd loved the show and we appreciated all the hospitality and media coverage.

The rest of the month saw us at more community events and charity car shows.  The K-Days parade was cool this year as we were with all the Edmonton Police Service vehicles starting with their 57 Chev panel delivery (former bomb truck) then progress through the years with different patrol cars ending with our futuristic race cars. (sorry photos of the parade haven’t been sent to me yet)

To date, we have attended over 35 events and still have many bookings right up until the end of September.  Our next appearance is Hot August Night which will be this Wednesday, August 13, in front of 15,000 race fans.  We will feature all 4 of our cars and again put on a good exhibition show.

I have attached a few photos from this year, but also check out our Facebook page at Blue Line Racing Association as I update the site more regularly.

Hope you’re having a great summer and thank you for your continued support.

Blue Line Racing September update

Hi all, for those of you I haven’t seen over the summer or for those who don’t follow us on Facebook, here’s a short update:

We’ve had a busy summer making appearances both on and off the track.  The Challenger has been running real well and consistent in the 9.8’s and is a real show stopper.  In August, the mega Mopar Action series made a stop at our local racetrack where I decided to enter and see if I could compete with it.  Well I ended up winning the Challenger shootout, running a 9.981 on a 9.98 dial.  See this link for the write up.  We also had some friendly competition when the Saskatoon Police Service brought their 2006 Caprice out to Edmonton for a weekend.  A couple weeks later, we traveled to Saskatoon and showed off our cars at their track.

The Mustang is running better, turning a 11.88 on street tires.  Thanks to Chris at CCMR for the tuning and once we can get traction with slicks, the times should improve.  The Duster is still running great with consistent 10.0’s times.  We have had several requests for passengers to ride in one of our cars which is always great to promote the sport and program.

The weather is still holding out nicely so I hope to get out to the track a couple more time in September before everything gets put away for the winter.

Take care.

Blue Line Racing Challenger on the track!!

Well the day has finally arrived. The Blue Line Racing team has traveled down to Vegas for Mopars at the Strip. I had the Challenger on the dyno 2 weeks ago and despite having no boost, the engine made 475hp to the rear wheels. Today, I made the first pass on the car and it ran smooth and sounded great. The time was 11.31 @ 117mph. (Not bad for a 4000lb car). Once we get home, I will figure out the no boost issue and try to get better times. As for now, we are enjoying the sun and putting on a great show.

Well the day has finally arrived!

This past week I finally brought the Challenger to life and got the engine running.  Some of you know that the car had been completed by Certified Fabrication (Stormy’s Street Rods) for Hot August Night on Aug 08, but after uploading a tune into the computer, the coils lost spark when attempting to start it.  After several days of diagnostics, logging and uploads, the techs at AEM helped me get the right combination to fire the engine.  Follow this link for a quick look and listen.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zczg86_FgiM  I have an appointment to get the car onto the dyno later this week and then hopefully I get to test the car at the track before the end of the year.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their support and patience on this project.  I for one am certainly exhausted from all the hours spent but I will not give up until it sees the race track.  All of you know that building a car doesn’t happen overnight, but this build just seemed to be one obstacle after the next.  Every little piece had to be fabricated or “massaged” into place and few parts were actually bolt in.  I have attached a few photos of the finished engine and interior.

Long Overdue Update

well its been a while since there has been an update, but we just wanted to let you know that we are very close to completing the Challenger. Between shows and events, the car has been at Stormy’s Street Rods getting all the necessary pieces (fuel system, cooling system, transmission and drivetrain) Next, myself with a couple of volunteers tackled the entire wiring of the car. Thank God for Google, and the great tech help from AEM, who saved me countless hours of guessing. Attached are some photos of the car, and its hard to tell, but a lot of small details took a large amount of fabricating time. If all goes well, we should be firing the car later this week and running a dyno session as well. The proposed debut of the Challenger will be on Wednesday August 8 at Castrol Raceway for Hot August Night. We will keep you posted on the final progress.

As for the rest of the program, the Duster has been running very consistently at 10.01, 10.03, etc. on the few times we’ve managed to get to the track. We have been busy at all sorts of community events with a nice display at Edmonton Indy this year. I purchased a stacker trailer last fall and it has really come in handy with logistics.

The Mustang received the new engine and clutch, and on the 2nd pass down the track at the Rocky Mtn Nationals the transmission piled up the 1/2 and 2/3 syncros. It, too, is in the shop getting repaired in order to be ready for Hot August Night. The Mustang received some new decalling and it looks fresh.

We are booked every weekend in August, and have been invited down to Salt Lake City in September. We will hopefully get our website updated with the schedule. I will also be uploading video and photos of the Challenger and the rest of the cars making passes down the track.

We will be back soon with an update….

Hot August Night’s Race

The Duster had the 418 engine which had just made 677hp on the dyno and ran a best of 10.02.  As you can see from the photo the rain was threatening us all day but it managed to stay away from the track.  You can see some videos of the car on You Tube and type in Blue Line Racing.

The Challenger has been brought back home, however, it was not completed after 14 months of being in California.  Despite this, we still made appearances with the car at a couple of major events in the Edmonton area.  We are moving forward on this project ourselves and I recently picked up a new 7.0L engine for it.  I will be working on the car this fall and winter and will display it fully finished in beginning of next year.

Thank you for your continued support.
